Chanel2.55 Reissue 225 Double Flap Bag

Q: What is the Chanel 2.55 Reissue 225 Double Flap Bag?
A: The Chanel 2.55 Reissue 225 is a smaller-sized version of Chanel’s iconic 2.55 design, originally inspired by Gabrielle Chanel’s February 1955 handbag. It is known for its structured double-flap construction, rectangular Mademoiselle lock, and all-metal chain style associated with the Reissue line.

Q: What size is this bag?
A: According to the product information, this bag measures approximately 24 x 16 x 7 cm. This places it in the 225 size family, which is widely loved for offering a compact look while still being practical for daily essentials.

Q: What typically fits inside a Chanel Reissue 225?
A: A Reissue 225 generally fits everyday essentials such as a phone, cardholder or small wallet, keys, lipstick, and other compact items. Because this is a double-flap style, the interior is more structured than an open tote, so it is best suited to neatly packed essentials rather than bulky belongings. Please refer to the Measurements on this page for the best sense of capacity.

Q: Can this bag be worn on the shoulder or crossbody?
A: This style is most commonly worn on the shoulder, either with the chain doubled or lengthened depending on personal preference and body frame. For this specific item, the strap measurement is approximately 48 cm, so the fit will depend on your height and how you prefer to carry it.

Q: What is the difference between the Chanel 2.55 Reissue and the Classic Flap?
A: The Reissue 2.55 is distinguished by its rectangular Mademoiselle turn-lock and chain without leather threaded through it, while the Classic Flap is typically recognised by the CC turn-lock and leather-interwoven chain. Many collectors choose the Reissue for its understated, heritage-inspired look.

Q: Is the 225 a good everyday size?
A: Yes, many buyers consider the 225 one of the most versatile Reissue sizes. It is compact and elegant, yet still roomy enough for day-to-evening essentials. If you prefer to carry only the basics and want a timeless silhouette that does not feel oversized, the 225 is often seen as an excellent choice.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag?
A: At A Retro Tale, every item is carefully checked for authenticity by specialists using brand-specific details such as construction, hardware, stitching, interior features, and serial markings. For this bag, the product information notes a serial number tag and the serial number U5XEGPHC.

Q: What accessories are included with this item?
A: This item includes a serial number tag. Everything included is listed in the product information; if something is not mentioned there, it should not be assumed to be included.

Q: What is the condition of this particular bag?
A: This bag is listed in Very Good Condition. The exterior shows light traces of use, the interior is also in very good condition with light traces of use, and the hardware is shiny with some scratches noted in the product information.

Q: How should I care for a vintage Chanel Reissue bag?
A: To help preserve it, store the bag in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity, avoid overfilling it, and gently wipe the exterior with a soft dry cloth after use. As with most structured vintage bags, it is best stored carefully to help maintain the shape and protect the finish of the hardware.
