ChanelClassic Medium Caviar Double Flap Bag

Q: What fits inside this Chanel Classic Medium Double Flap Bag?
A: With measurements of 25 x 16 x 7 cm, this medium size is ideal for everyday essentials such as a phone, card holder or slim wallet, keys, lipstick and a few small personal items. The double-flap construction adds structure, so it is best suited to compact essentials rather than bulkier items.

Q: How can this bag be worn?
A: This bag features a leather-threaded chain strap with an approximate drop of 24 cm doubled and 42 cm single. It is designed primarily for shoulder wear, giving you the option of a shorter double-chain carry or a longer single-chain drop.

Q: Is caviar leather a practical choice for daily use?
A: Yes. Chanel’s caviar leather is widely loved for its textured finish, which tends to be more resistant to scratches and everyday wear than smoother leathers. It is a popular choice for collectors who want a classic Chanel bag with a structured feel and good durability.

Q: What is the benefit of the double-flap design?
A: The double-flap design is one of the signature details of the Chanel Classic Flap. It adds structure, helps the bag keep its shape and gives an extra layer of organisation and security inside. It also contributes to the iconic, collectible look of the piece.

Q: What is the small zip pocket under the top flap for?
A: The small zipped compartment under the top flap is often referred to as the love letter pocket. It is best for very slim items such as folded notes, receipts or other flat essentials, rather than anything bulky.

Q: Does this item come with an authenticity card, box or dust bag?
A: This particular bag includes product information in the form of a serial number tag. If any other extras such as an authenticity card, box or dust bag are not listed under product information, they are not included with this item.

Q: What does the serial number tell me about the bag?
A: This bag has serial number 9350260. Chanel serial numbers are commonly used to help place vintage bags within a production period, and an 8-digit 9-series number is generally associated with the mid-2000s. As with all Chanel bags, serial details are only one part of the overall authentication process.

Q: What condition is this bag in?
A: This bag is rated Good Condition. The exterior and interior show light traces of use, and the hardware remains shiny with light scratches. This makes it a well-kept vintage piece with visible but minor signs of previous wear.

Q: How should I care for this vintage Chanel bag?
A: To help preserve its shape and finish, avoid overfilling the bag, prolonged exposure to sunlight or humidity, and contact with rough or colour-transferring surfaces. Store it in a cool, dry place and handle the chain and flap carefully to minimise pressure marks and scratches on the leather.

Q: How do you authenticate a pre-owned Chanel bag like this?
A: Authentication should always consider the bag as a whole, including leather quality, quilting, hardware, stamps, lining details and serial elements. At A Retro Tale, every item is professionally checked before sale, so you can shop vintage Chanel with confidence.
