ChanelClassic Iridescent Flap Bag

Q: What typically fits inside this Chanel Classic Iridescent Flap Bag?
A: With approximate measurements of 26 x 13 x 6 cm, it is best suited to day-to-evening essentials such as a phone, card holder or slim wallet, keys, lipstick, and a few small personal items. It is not ideal for bulkier pouches or larger items, so we recommend checking the Measurements on this page if you like to carry more.

Q: Can this bag be worn on the shoulder or crossbody?
A: This bag has a leather-threaded chain shoulder strap with an approximate drop of 22 cm, so it is best suited to shoulder wear. For most people, it will not sit comfortably as a crossbody style.

Q: Does the iridescent finish look black all the time?
A: It reads as black overall, but the iridescent finish can shift subtly depending on the light and viewing angle. In daylight or brighter indoor lighting, you may notice a soft sheen or tonal change that gives the bag a more distinctive look than a standard black flap bag.

Q: Is iridescent quilted canvas practical for regular use?
A: Yes, it can be a practical choice for regular use if treated with care. Canvas is generally lightweight, but iridescent finishes can show rubbing, corner wear, or surface marks more readily than more robust everyday materials. It is a lovely option if you want something special while still keeping your packing fairly light.

Q: How should I care for this bag?
A: Avoid overfilling it, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, humidity, and rough surfaces. If it gets marked, use a soft dry or slightly damp cloth and avoid leather creams or harsh cleaning products, as they may affect the finish. For storage, keep it lightly stuffed, upright, and with the chain tucked in or wrapped to help preserve the shape and minimise impressions.

Q: What does the serial number 14****** mean?
A: This listing notes a Chanel serial number in the 14-series, which corresponds to the 2010-2011 production period. On vintage Chanel bags, the serial number is one useful dating and authentication marker, but it should always be considered alongside materials, construction, hardware, and overall craftsmanship.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything included with the bag is shown in the product information on this page. For this specific listing, the serial number is noted. If an authenticity card, box, dust bag, or any other extra is not listed in the product information, it should not be assumed to be included.

Q: What condition is this bag in?
A: According to the product information, the external and internal condition are both rated Very Good with light traces of use. The hardware is described as shiny with light scratches. As a vintage Chanel piece, gentle signs of age and wear are normal and form part of its character.

Q: How is authenticity checked for a vintage Chanel bag like this?
A: A Retro Tale states that its items are authenticated by experts before sale. For Chanel bags, authentication typically involves checking details such as the serial number format, quilting alignment, hardware, logo placement, lining, stamps, and overall construction quality rather than relying on one feature alone.
