ChanelLambskin Fringe Pouch

Q: What typically fits inside the Chanel Lambskin Fringe Pouch?
A: As a compact zip pouch (approx. 10 × 17 × 5 cm), it’s ideal for essentials: a smartphone, slim cardholder or small wallet, keys, lipstick, AirPods, and a few small cosmetics. Continental (long) wallets and bulky sunglasses generally do not fit comfortably. Please refer to the Measurements on this page or ask us for a tailored fit check for this exact piece.

Q: Will my iPhone Pro/Max fit?
A: Most standard and many Pro/Max phones fit, though very thick cases can make the zip opening snug. For certainty, compare your device’s dimensions with the Measurements provided or ask us to test the fit against this specific pouch before purchase.

Q: Does it have a strap or chain? Can I wear it crossbody?
A: Chanel fringe pouches are typically carried in hand as a clutch or used as a bag organiser; they usually do not include a shoulder strap or chain. Everything included with this item is listed under “Accessories.” This listing notes a serial number tag only—no strap is included.

Q: How secure is the closure and what’s the interior layout?
A: It features a zip‑top closure with a leather tassel for good day‑to‑day security. The interior is a single main compartment with black leather lining. Our photos show the exact layout and condition of this piece.

Q: What materials and hardware does this pouch have, and where is it made?
A: This listing specifies black quilted lambskin leather, gold‑tone hardware and a black leather lining, stamped Made in Italy. Many vintage Chanel pieces from certain eras used 24K gold‑plated hardware; current descriptions reflect the exact finish noted for this item. We’re happy to provide close‑ups on request.

Q: How should I care for lambskin leather and the tassel fringe?
A: Keep it away from moisture, oils and prolonged sunlight, and be mindful of colour transfer from dark denim. Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth and condition smooth leather sparingly with a high‑quality neutral product (test first on a discreet area). Avoid snagging the tassel on zips or rough surfaces; store the pouch lightly stuffed, upright, in a breathable dust bag, and lay the tassel flat to prevent kinks.

Q: Does the fringe/tassel shed or fray?
A: Quality Chanel tassels are durable and should not shed under normal use. Avoid pulling on the fringe and keep it clear of sharp edges. Minor edge fraying can be assessed and tidied by a professional leather specialist if ever needed.

Q: Where are the brand markings and codes, and how is dating handled?
A: Authentic Chanel bags feature interior brand and country stamps (e.g., “CHANEL” and “Made in Italy”). Older models include a hologram serial sticker; more recent releases use an embedded microchip. Placement and format vary by era. This item includes a serial number (noted in the listing) and we can help interpret it and provide close‑up photos on request.

Q: How do you authenticate this pouch?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale undergoes rigorous, multi‑point authentication by our in‑house experts, assessing materials, stitching, hardware, stamps, serial sticker/microchip and overall construction. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and can share additional details or photos on request.

Q: Can Chanel repair or service the fringe pouch?
A: Chanel boutiques offer repair services subject to assessment and parts availability (e.g., hardware, zipper pulls, some leather components). Lead times and costs vary by region. Independent luxury leather specialists can also clean and restore vintage lambskin and tassels. We’re happy to advise on typical options and help you prepare for a boutique assessment.
