ChloéMedium Paddington Bag

Q: What typically fits in the Medium Paddington?
A: With measurements of about 35 × 19 × 19 cm, it comfortably carries daily essentials such as a long wallet, smartphone, sunglasses case, cosmetic pouch, keys, and a 500 ml water bottle. Most tablets up to around 11 inches fit; A4 folders and 13-inch laptops are generally not ideal due to the height and zipper shape. Please refer to the Measurements on this page for exact sizing.

Q: Is the Paddington considered a heavy bag?
A: Yes, the Paddington is known for feeling substantial because of its solid padlock and metal hardware. Owners and editors often note that it is heavier than many similar-sized shoulder bags, even when empty.

Q: How do the padlock and keys work on this bag?
A: The two top zips meet at the centre; you can thread the padlock through the zipper pull holes to secure them together. The keys are typically stored in the attached leather holder. Many owners use the padlock mainly as a decorative signature and leave the zips closed without locking for quick access.

Q: Can the padlock be removed or replaced?
A: The padlock is removable. If you prefer a lighter carry, you can detach it and store it inside the bag. Should you ever need repair or replacement, a quality leather‑goods workshop or specialist repair service can usually assist; availability of identical vintage parts may vary.

Q: Does this specific bag have a shoulder strap and can it be worn crossbody?
A: This piece includes a detachable shoulder strap in addition to dual rolled handles. The strap offers a comfortable on‑shoulder carry; depending on your height and preference, it may wear short crossbody but is primarily designed for shoulder use.

Q: When was the Chloé Paddington introduced, and why is it iconic?
A: Debuting in the Spring/Summer 2005 season, the Paddington became an era‑defining “It bag” thanks to its soft, slouchy silhouette and oversized padlock. It remains a recognisable Chloé signature and has seen renewed interest in recent years.

Q: How should I care for the tan leather and hardware?
A: Wipe the leather with a soft, slightly damp cloth and allow it to dry naturally. Condition sparingly with a neutral leather conditioner when needed. Keep away from direct heat, moisture, oils and prolonged sunlight to minimise colour changes. For hardware, use a dry, soft cloth only; avoid metal polishes or abrasives. Store the bag lightly stuffed in a breathable dust bag to maintain its shape and reduce creasing.

Q: What authenticity details are typical for vintage Paddington bags?
A: Look for high‑quality, supple leather; neat, even stitching; weighty hardware; and a correctly finished padlock and keys. Some vintage examples include an interior leather tag with numbers that may appear as serial or date codes, but formats vary by year and are not consistent enough alone to confirm authenticity. We authenticate every item via multi‑point checks of materials, construction, stamps and hardware.

Q: What accessories are included with this item?
A: Everything included is listed under Accessories on this page. For this bag, a padlock and key are included. If an item such as a dust bag or care card is not listed, it is not included—please contact us if you need clarification.

Q: Where is this bag made?
A: This vintage Paddington is labelled Made in Italy.
