Bottega VenetaStone Ring

Q: Is this Bottega Veneta Stone Ring authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What is the ring made from? Is the black colour a plating?
A: The ring is crafted in sterling silver with a deliberate blackened (oxidised) finish over the metal, plus a large oval, faceted champagne‑coloured stone in an ornate openwork setting. The band features Bottega Veneta’s Intrecciato‑style texture. Oxidisation is a surface treatment on solid silver—not a paint or standard “plating”.

Q: What size is it and how will it fit?
A: It is listed as EU size 54, which is approximately UK size N (about 17.2 mm inside diameter / ~54.4 mm inside circumference) and US size 7. The ring head measures about 2.4 × 2.0 × 1.2 cm (H × W × D), reading as a noticeable cocktail ring on the finger. If you’d like the exact inner‑band width or a try‑on photo for scale, just ask and we’ll provide it.

Q: Can this ring be resized?
A: Many sterling silver rings can be resized slightly by a skilled jeweller (often about one size up or down). However, because this piece has an ornate openwork setting, a textured band and a blackened finish, any resizing must be assessed case‑by‑case and may require re‑oxidising the silver afterwards. We don’t offer in‑house alterations but can recommend reputable specialists on request.

Q: What hallmarks or stamps should I expect?
A: Bottega Veneta silver rings typically feature brand signature markings inside the band, for example “Bottega Veneta”, metal fineness “925” (sterling silver), a size stamp (e.g., 54) and often “Made in Italy”. Placement and format vary by model and era; our listing photos show any stamps present on this piece.

Q: Will the blackened (oxidised) finish wear off? Can it be restored?
A: The dark patina is intentionally created on silver and will gently lighten at high‑contact points with normal wear. To maintain it, keep the ring dry, avoid abrasives and harsh chemical dips, and wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth after wear. If the patina lightens more than you like, most jewellers can re‑oxidise it to refresh the depth.

Q: How should I clean and care for the stone and silver?
A: Use mild soap, lukewarm water and a very soft brush, then rinse and dry thoroughly. Avoid ultrasonic or chemical dips—especially as the exact stone composition can vary by collection and strong cleaners or ultrasonics can damage certain stones or loosen settings. Keep away from perfume, lotions, hand sanitiser and chlorinated water, and store individually in a soft pouch/box.

Q: Is it suitable for sensitive skin? Is there any nickel?
A: Sterling silver is generally alloyed with copper and is often well‑tolerated. EU/UK regulations strictly limit nickel release from jewellery that touches the skin, but individual sensitivities vary. If you have known metal allergies, monitor comfort, keep the ring dry, and discontinue wear if irritation occurs—we’re happy to advise further.

Q: Does it come with a box or accessories, and what condition should I expect?
A: This item is in Good Condition with light signs of previous wear possible. It comes with no accessories unless specifically shown or listed. Returns are accepted under our standard policy—please see our Returns page for eligibility, timeframes and conditions, and ensure the item is returned in the same condition received.

Q: Where is it made?
A: Bottega Veneta silver jewellery is produced in Italy; this piece is noted as Italy in the listing. Our close‑up photos will show any country‑of‑origin stamp present on the ring.
