ChanelCC Vanity Bag

Q: What typically fits inside this Chanel CC Vanity Bag?
A: With approximate measurements of 17 × 16 × 13 cm, it comfortably carries a smartphone, a small wallet or cardholder, keys, a compact and a few small essentials. Most long continental wallets will not fit. Capacity varies by how you pack—please refer to the Measurements on this page for exact dimensions.

Q: Does it come with a shoulder strap?
A: No. This vintage vanity is a handheld style with a single top handle and a zip‑around closure. The handle drop is approximately 3 cm.

Q: Can I add a strap to wear it crossbody?
A: Some owners use third‑party D‑ring adapters or conversion kits to attach a strap, but such modifications can stress the leather and hardware and may affect future servicing or resale. We recommend using it as designed; any alterations are at the owner’s discretion.

Q: What is the production year of this piece?
A: The serial number 1160139 falls within Chanel’s 1‑series, dated approximately 1989–1991. The serial sticker on this item is noted as damaged, which is common on vintage pieces and does not by itself determine authenticity.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts using multi‑point checks of materials, stitching, hardware, stamps and serials, and comparison to period‑correct references. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and can provide further details on request.

Q: How is the condition of this bag?
A: Overall good vintage condition. There is visible wear with scuffs on the corners and damage by the zipper. Inside, the logo stamp is faded and the serial sticker is damaged. The hardware shows slight tarnishing. Please review the photos for a close‑up view.

Q: Is lambskin suitable for everyday use, and how should I care for it?
A: Lambskin is soft and luxurious but more prone to surface marks than grained leathers. Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth, avoid moisture and prolonged exposure to light, and store upright, lightly stuffed, with the handle and hardware protected. For deeper cleaning or restoration, consult a professional leather specialist.

Q: Can I use it as a cosmetics case when travelling?
A: While inspired by classic vanity cases, this vintage lambskin piece is best used as a small handbag. Liquids, sharp objects and humidity can mark the leather; keep any cosmetics in sealed pouches if carried and avoid humid environments.

Q: Where was it made?
A: This piece is stamped Made in Italy, as indicated on the product page.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything included is listed under the product information section. For this item, a serial number tag is included. If an item such as an authenticity card, dust bag or box is not listed there, it is not included.
