Christian DiorRasta Trotter Saddle Bag

Q: Is this the Rasta edition and when was it released?
A: Yes. This is the Galliano‑era Rasta colourway of the Dior Saddle, widely associated with the Spring/Summer 2004 period. It combines Dior’s Trotter (Diorissimo) canvas with red, yellow and green leather trim and silver-tone hardware.

Q: How big is it and what typically fits inside?
A: Approx. 25 × 15 × 4 cm with an adjustable shoulder strap of about 35 cm. It comfortably holds a smartphone, small wallet or cardholder, keys, and a few small beauty items. Larger items like a long continental wallet, water bottle, or tablet will not fit—please refer to the Measurements on this page for exact dimensions.

Q: How is it meant to be carried? Can I wear it crossbody?
A: This vintage Saddle is designed for a short, under‑the‑arm shoulder carry via its single flat strap. The strap is adjustable for a closer or slightly longer shoulder drop, but it is not intended for crossbody wear and is not designed for modern detachable “guitar” straps.

Q: What kind of closure does it have and is it secure?
A: The flap fastens with velcro—this is an original feature of early 2000s Saddles. It provides a quick, secure closure; keep the hook‑and‑loop area free from lint and avoid soaking it in liquids to maintain its grip.

Q: What is included with this listing?
A: The product information for this item indicates the bag only, with no extras. Everything included is always listed under the product information section on this page.

Q: Where was this piece made?
A: The country of origin label reads Italy.

Q: What condition should I expect?
A: Very Good overall. There are some dirt marks and signs of wear on the yellow leather parts, light stains on the strap, a lightly used interior, and a slight vintage smell. Hardware remains shiny with light scratches. Please review the photos for close‑ups.

Q: How do I care for the Trotter canvas and multicolour leather trim?
A: Gently wipe the canvas with a soft, barely damp cloth and let it air‑dry away from heat. For the leather trim, use a pH‑neutral leather cleaner sparingly, testing on a hidden spot first. Avoid harsh chemicals, coloured cleaning agents, and prolonged sun exposure. Store the bag lightly stuffed in a breathable dust bag to help it hold its shape.

Q: How can I minimise a light vintage odour safely?
A: Air the bag in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Store it lightly stuffed with acid‑free tissue and place unscented odour absorbers (such as activated‑charcoal or silica‑gel sachets) nearby, not directly on the leather. Repeat over several days as needed and avoid perfumed sprays inside the bag.

Q: How does A Retro Tale authenticate this bag, and where is the code?
A: Every piece is verified by our in‑house experts using materials, stitching, hardware engravings, stamps, and era‑correct details. On Galliano‑era Saddles, a heat‑stamped leather label is inside and the date code is typically on the reverse of that label; formats and placement can vary by year and factory. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and can share additional photos on request.
