GivenchyRhinestone Necklace

Q: What is the length and how will it fit? A: The necklace measures 38 cm in perimeter (about 15 inches), which generally wears as a choker sitting at the base of the neck. For best fit, measure your neck circumference and allow a little ease for comfort.

Q: Is the metal solid silver and are the stones crystal? A: Givenchy fashion jewellery is typically crafted in high‑quality silver‑tone plating over base metal with glass rhinestones rather than solid precious metal. This piece features a silver‑tone finish with clear rhinestones.

Q: Can the length be adjusted or extended? A: It fastens with a clasp and the standard length is fixed at 38 cm. Minor adjustment may be possible depending on the end links; if you need extra length, a professional jeweller can add a small extender without affecting the original design.

Q: What is a snake chain and is there anything I should be careful about? A: A snake chain is a smooth, flexible chain that drapes comfortably and looks sleek. Avoid sharp bending or twisting, as snake chains can kink; store it laid flat or gently coiled and have any kinks assessed by a professional, as repairs can be challenging.

Q: How should I clean a vintage rhinestone necklace safely? A: Do not soak or submerge. Gently wipe metal and stones with a soft, dry cloth. For crevices, use a barely damp cotton bud and dry immediately. Avoid ultrasonic or ionic cleaners, alcohol, acetone, ammonia, and abrasive polishes to protect the foil‑backed stones and plating.

Q: Can I wear it in the shower or when applying perfume and hairspray? A: No. Keep rhinestone jewellery away from water, steam, sweat, perfumes, hairsprays, lotions, and high heat, which can dull stones, lift foil backings, and accelerate plating wear.

Q: How should I store it to minimise tarnish and wear? A: Store it dry, cool, and away from direct sunlight. Keep it in an individual soft pouch or compartment to prevent rubbing, and consider low‑humidity or anti‑tarnish storage to slow down plating discolouration.

Q: Is it suitable for sensitive skin or nickel allergies? A: As a vintage plated fashion piece, it may contain nickel in underlying alloys. If you have sensitivities, avoid prolonged skin contact, use a barrier such as a clear jewellery shield on contact areas, or opt for pieces specifically labelled nickel‑free.

Q: Are the stones secure and what if one loosens? A: Our specialists inspect settings during intake. With vintage items, old adhesives and settings can age; handle gently and avoid snagging. A qualified jeweller can re‑set or secure a loose stone if ever needed.

Q: What is included with this item? A: Everything included is listed under product information on this page. If a branded box or dust bag is not listed there, it is not included.

Q: How do you authenticate vintage Givenchy jewellery? A: Each piece is vetted by our in‑house experts. Typical authentic hallmarks include signatures such as “Givenchy”, “GIVENCHY Paris”, or “Givenchy Paris New York” on plaques or clasps, and select late‑1970s pieces carry date stamps. We can provide additional photos on request.
