Louis VuittonEpi Soufflot Bag

Q: What size is the Louis Vuitton Epi Soufflot Bag, and what fits inside?
A: This bag measures approximately 30 x 16 x 14 cm, giving it a compact but practical everyday shape. It will typically fit essentials such as a phone, wallet, keys, sunglasses, small cosmetics, and the matching mini pouch. It is not large enough for a laptop or bulky A4 items.

Q: Can this bag be carried on the shoulder?
A: Yes, for many people the Soufflot can be carried either by hand, on the arm, or lightly on the shoulder. On this piece, the handle and strap drop measurements are listed as approximately 20 cm and 17 cm, so the fit can vary slightly depending on your frame and what you are wearing.

Q: Does this item include the matching pouch and dust bag?
A: Yes. This listing includes a matching mini pouch and a dust bag. As with all pre-owned pieces, only the items listed in the product information are included with the purchase.

Q: What is Epi leather, and is it durable?
A: Epi leather is Louis Vuitton’s textured embossed leather, known for its structured feel and understated look. It is generally considered one of the more durable Louis Vuitton materials for day-to-day use, as the textured finish helps it cope well with light scratches and regular wear.

Q: How should I care for vintage Epi leather?
A: Clean it gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry it with a clean cloth afterwards. Avoid harsh chemicals, oils, soaking the leather, or prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and heat. When not in use, store the bag lightly stuffed in its dust bag to help maintain its shape.

Q: What does the date code MI0917 mean?
A: Louis Vuitton used date codes rather than unique serial numbers on many older bags. In this format, MI indicates production in France, and 0917 corresponds to September 1997. A date code helps identify when and where the bag was made, but it should never be used as the only test of authenticity.

Q: How is the bag organised inside?
A: The classic Epi Soufflot design typically features a roomy main compartment with a top zip closure, plus a small interior pocket and the matching mini pouch for smaller essentials. The rounded shape also makes it easy to access everyday items.

Q: What is the condition of this particular bag?
A: This piece is in very good vintage condition. The exterior shows wear on the handles and slight marks, the interior has light traces of use, and the hardware remains shiny with light scratches. Please refer to the condition notes on this page for the most accurate item-specific details.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is checked by experts using multiple points such as leather quality, construction, hardware, stamps, and date code consistency. The date code is only one part of the process, not the sole basis for authentication.
