Louis VuittonMonogram Giant Onthego MM Bag

Q: What typically fits inside the Onthego MM?
A: With its structured shape and approximate measurements of 35 × 26 × 14 cm, it comfortably holds a 13-inch laptop (preferably in a slim sleeve), A4 documents, a water bottle, long wallet, phone, cosmetics pouch and small umbrella. Capacity will vary by how you organise your items—please refer to the Measurements on this page for exact dimensions.

Q: Can it be worn on the shoulder as well as by hand?
A: Yes. It features dual Toron top handles for hand or crook-of-arm carry (about 12 cm drop) and two longer, non-adjustable shoulder straps (about 27 cm drop). The long straps are fixed, not detachable, and can be tucked inside when you prefer a handheld look.

Q: Does the Onthego MM fit a 14- or 15-inch laptop?
A: A 13-inch laptop fits comfortably. Some slim 14-inch devices may fit, but it will be snug; a 15-inch is generally better suited to the larger Onthego GM. If you plan to carry a laptop daily, measure your device and sleeve against the bag’s internal width and height.

Q: What is the closure and interior layout?
A: The bag has an open top with a central hook closure. Inside you’ll find a red textile lining with one zipped pocket and two slip pockets for easy organisation.

Q: What is Monogram Giant, and is this version reversible in look?
A: Monogram Giant magnifies the classic LV motif for a bold effect. Many Onthego MM editions combine Monogram Giant with Monogram Reverse on different panels, creating a two-tone look. Exact pattern placement varies by edition—please check our photos to see the configuration of this piece.

Q: Is the Onthego MM suitable as a work or everyday bag?
A: Yes. Its structured silhouette stands upright and carries daily essentials with ease. In coated canvas versions it is relatively lightweight for its size and comfortable on the shoulder, though we recommend not overloading it to preserve the handles and shape.

Q: Are the long straps adjustable or removable?
A: No. The long shoulder straps are fixed length and non-removable. They are designed to fold neatly inside the bag when not in use.

Q: Why doesn’t this bag have a date code? It says RFID.
A: From around March 2021, Louis Vuitton phased out visible date codes in favour of discreet embedded microchips (RFID/NFC) to enhance traceability and combat counterfeiting. This is normal for newer pieces. The microchip is not meant to be read by consumer apps; at A Retro Tale we authenticate using expert multi-point checks.

Q: How should I care for the coated canvas and lining?
A: Wipe the canvas with a soft, slightly damp cloth and mild soapy water if needed, then dry immediately. Avoid alcohol-based wipes, solvents and abrasive cleaners. Keep light-coloured canvas away from dark fabrics to minimise colour transfer. Store the bag loosely stuffed in its dust bag in a cool, dry place, and avoid prolonged exposure to heat or direct sunlight. Treat any leather trims gently and avoid overfilling to maintain the bag’s structure.

Q: What accessories are included with this item?
A: This listing includes a dust bag and receipt. Everything included is listed under Accessories; if an item isn’t listed there, it is not included.
