Louis VuittonMonogram Mini Palm Springs Backpack

Q: What typically fits inside the Palm Springs Mini?
A: Despite its compact profile (approx. 22 × 15 × 9 cm), it comfortably holds a large smartphone, compact wallet or cardholder, keys, lip balm/compact, hand sanitiser, and sunglasses in a soft pouch. Capacity varies with how you pack and case sizes—please refer to the Measurements on this page for exact dimensions.

Q: Will an iPhone Pro Max–size phone fit?
A: Yes, most larger smartphones fit in the main compartment with ease (even with a slim case). The front exterior pocket is best for flat, slim items and is generally too tight for a phone.

Q: How can I wear it—backpack, shoulder or crossbody?
A: The Mini has two removable, adjustable straps. Wear it as a backpack with both straps attached, or as a shoulder/crossbody by using a single strap clipped diagonally from a top D‑ring to the opposite back D‑ring. You can also loop a strap through the rear keeper to shorten the drop. Fit on the body will vary by height and strap setting.

Q: Is the front zipped pocket practical?
A: It’s intentionally slim. It works well for cards, tickets, receipts or a small key pouch, but it’s not designed for bulkier items or a phone.

Q: Is the Monogram canvas water‑resistant and how should I care for it?
A: Louis Vuitton’s Monogram canvas is a coated material that is durable and water‑resistant for light splashes, but it isn’t waterproof. Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth, avoid harsh cleaners, and protect the black leather trim and handle from excessive moisture, oils and hand sanitiser. Store the bag lightly stuffed in a breathable dust bag when not in use.

Q: I’ve heard about a zipper redesign—does that apply here?
A: Around 2020 Louis Vuitton introduced an updated Mini with an exposed top zip to improve access and reduce rubbing on the canvas. Check our product photos to see which version this piece has.

Q: What does the date code FL0231 mean?
A: FL indicates a French workshop; the digits decode to week 03 of 2021. Note that Louis Vuitton began transitioning to microchips in 2021, but earlier 2021 pieces may still carry a date code. Date codes are not unique serial numbers, so they support but don’t by themselves guarantee authenticity.

Q: Is the Palm Springs Mini still available new in boutiques?
A: Availability is sporadic and varies by location; it often sells out quickly online. Many shoppers source this model on the pre‑loved market when boutiques are out of stock.

Q: What accessories are included with this item?
A: This model originally comes with two detachable straps. Everything included with this specific piece is listed under Accessories on this page; if a second strap or a dust bag isn’t listed there, it isn’t included.

Q: How does the noted wear affect use on this piece?
A: This item shows visible cracking and wear on the leather handle and tabs as shown in the photos. This is primarily cosmetic, but we recommend avoiding overloading or stressing those areas. Professional repairs may be possible via Louis Vuitton or specialist ateliers, subject to their assessment and fees.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is carefully vetted by our in‑house experts using multi‑point checks of materials, stitching, hardware, stamps and date codes, supported by specialist tools. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and can provide further details on request.
