GucciRaffia Horsebit Tote Bag

Q: What can the Gucci Raffia Horsebit Tote hold day to day?
A: With approximate dimensions of 38 × 27 × 14 cm, it comfortably carries daily essentials such as a purse, phone, sunglasses, a small makeup pouch, a compact umbrella, and a water bottle. It also fits A4 documents and most 13-inch laptops when placed in a slim protective sleeve. Please note the open-top design and use the internal zipped pocket for small valuables.

Q: Is it suitable for shoulder carry?
A: The tote features dual top handles designed for hand or shoulder carry. Please refer to the Measurements section on this page (handle/strap drop approx. 23 cm) to assess comfort over the shoulder with your preferred layers.

Q: How durable is raffia for everyday use?
A: Quality raffia is a natural fibre known for being lightweight yet resilient when used with care. It is ideal for warm-weather wear and casual commuting, but we recommend avoiding overloading and heavy abrasion to preserve the weave and shape over time.

Q: Can raffia get wet? What should I do if it’s caught in the rain?
A: Avoid exposure to rain, humidity, and prolonged direct sunlight. If the bag gets wet, gently blot moisture with a clean, dry cloth, reshape, and let it air-dry away from heat sources. Do not use a hairdryer or place it near radiators, as heat can distort natural fibres and leather trim.

Q: How do I clean and maintain the raffia and leather trim?
A: For Gucci pieces, follow gentle care: dust the raffia with a soft brush and, if needed, lightly dab marks with a barely damp cloth, then air-dry. Wipe leather trim with a soft, dry, non‑abrasive cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, solvent cleaners, and generic protective sprays, which can alter colour and finish. For stubborn stains, consult a professional specialising in natural fibres and leather.

Q: Will the red leather trim transfer colour onto light clothing?
A: As with any richly dyed leather, some colour transfer may occur, especially with friction, heat, or moisture. Pair with darker garments in these conditions and avoid prolonged contact with very light fabrics to minimise risk.

Q: Does the tote have a closure and interior organisation?
A: This style has an open top for easy access and includes a beige canvas lining with one internal zipped pocket to secure smaller items. Many clients use a lightweight organiser pouch for additional separation of essentials.

Q: What is the significance of the Horsebit detail?
A: The Horsebit motif—two metal rings connected by a bar—references Gucci’s equestrian heritage and has been a house code since the 1950s. It is both a design signature and a nod to the brand’s history of craftsmanship.

Q: How should I store the bag between wears?
A: Stuff the tote lightly with acid‑free tissue to maintain shape, leave handles relaxed, and store it upright in a breathable dust bag in a cool, dry place. Avoid stacking heavy items on top and keep away from direct sunlight to prevent fading.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything included is listed under the product information on this page. If an item such as a dust bag is not listed there, it is not included with this piece.

Q: Is this item authentic and what is its condition?
A: Every piece at A Retro Tale undergoes a rigorous, multi‑point authenticity check by our in‑house experts. This vintage tote is in Very Good condition with light traces of use outside and small marks on the lining, with hardware that remains shiny with light surface scratches—please review the photos for full details.
