HermèsKelly Box 32 Sellier Bag

Q: What size is this Hermès Kelly bag?
A: This is a Hermès Kelly 32 Sellier, a classic medium-sized Kelly with a structured silhouette. According to the product information, it measures approximately 32 × 23 × 10 cm, with a handle drop of 9 cm and a strap drop of 44 cm.

Q: What typically fits inside a Kelly 32?
A: The Kelly 32 is generally considered one of the more practical Kelly sizes for day use. It will usually fit daily essentials such as a long wallet, phone, keys, sunglasses, a small cosmetic pouch and a compact tablet or notebook. Because of the structured Sellier shape and narrower top opening, bulkier items are less convenient to place inside.

A: This piece includes a shoulder strap in the product information, and the listed strap drop is 44 cm. That makes it suitable for shoulder carry for many wearers. Whether it sits comfortably crossbody can vary depending on height and styling preference, but vintage Kelly straps are often best suited to shoulder wear rather than a long crossbody fit.

Q: What is special about the Sellier construction?
A: Sellier refers to the more rigid, sharply defined construction of the Kelly. It gives the bag its elegant, boxy shape and a dressier appearance than the softer Retourne version. Many collectors appreciate Sellier styles for their crisp lines and polished look.

Q: What should I know about Box leather?
A: Box leather is a smooth calf leather known for its refined finish and timeless appeal, especially on vintage Kelly bags. It can develop a beautiful patina over time, but it is also more prone to visible surface scratches than grained leathers, which is part of why many collectors handle it with extra care.

Q: How should I care for this Hermès bag?
A: Smooth leather benefits from gentle handling and careful storage. Avoid rain, direct heat, prolonged sunlight, oils, perfume and ink transfer. When not in use, store the bag in a dry, temperate place in its dust bag, lightly filled to help maintain its shape, and avoid overloading it during wear.

Q: What is the condition of this specific bag?
A: This bag is listed in good condition. The exterior shows scratches on the leather and wear on the corners, the interior has scratches, and the hardware remains shiny with light scratches. As a vintage Box leather piece, visible signs of age and use are to be expected and form part of its character.
