HermèsNewsboy Cap, Size 59

Q: What does size 59 mean, and how should this cap fit?
A: Size 59 generally corresponds to a head circumference of about 59 cm. To check fit, measure around the fullest part of your head, just above the ears and across the forehead where the cap would naturally sit. A newsboy cap should feel secure and comfortable, with a fuller crown rather than a tight, close fit.

Q: Is this Hermès Newsboy Cap adjustable?
A: This listing is for a fixed Size 59 cap, and no adjustable feature is mentioned in the product information. If your usual hat size is close to 59 cm, this should be the best fit.

Q: What materials is this cap made from?
A: According to the product information, this piece is crafted in a black viscose blend with silver-tone hardware and a cotton and silk blend lining. The combination gives it a refined look and a smooth feel against the head.

Q: What condition is the cap in?
A: This item is listed in very good condition with light traces of use. The hardware is described as shiny with light scratches. As a vintage piece, gentle signs of previous wear are normal and part of its character.

Q: Are any extras included with this item?
A: No extras are listed in the product information for this cap. If anything additional were included, it would be noted there.

Q: How is a newsboy cap different from a flat cap?
A: A newsboy cap usually has a fuller, rounder crown with more volume, while a flat cap has a slimmer shape that sits closer to the head. This Hermès piece is described as a newsboy cap, so you can expect that softer, more rounded silhouette.

Q: How should I style a black newsboy cap?
A: A black newsboy cap is one of the easiest versions to wear. It pairs well with tailoring, knitwear, trench coats, leather jackets, denim and monochrome outfits. For a modern look, keep the rest of the outfit clean and understated so the cap feels polished rather than theatrical.

Q: How should I care for a vintage cap with a cotton and silk blend lining?
A: For vintage headwear, avoid machine washing unless a care label specifically allows it. Store the cap in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture, and handle cleaning gently with light brushing or careful spot cleaning only when needed. For deeper cleaning, a specialist cleaner experienced with delicate or vintage fabrics is the safest choice.

Q: How do you authenticate vintage Hermès headwear?
A: At A Retro Tale, vintage items are checked for authenticity before they are listed. For designer headwear, this typically includes reviewing materials, construction, lining, hardware, labels and overall craftsmanship.
