Louis VuittonMonogram Giant Onthego GM Bag

Q: What typically fits inside the Onthego GM?
A: With approximate measurements of 40 × 31 × 17 cm for this piece, it easily accommodates an A4 notebook or folio, a full‑size wallet, a water bottle, make‑up pouch, chargers and small extras. Capacity varies with how you pack—please refer to the Measurements on this page for the exact dimensions of this item.

Q: Will it fit a laptop?
A: Yes. Most 15‑inch laptops and many slim 16‑inch models fit comfortably, along with documents and daily essentials. If you use a padded sleeve, allow a little extra room and compare against the listed measurements.

Q: How can it be carried? Are the straps removable or adjustable?
A: The Onthego GM features dual top handles for hand or crook‑of‑arm carry and two long shoulder straps for over‑the‑shoulder wear. The straps are fixed (not detachable) and non‑adjustable; this model is not intended for crossbody use.

Q: Does it have a secure closure and interior organisation?
A: It has an open top with a hook clasp for quick closure. Inside, this bag includes one zipped pocket and two slip pockets to organise smaller items, with a red textile lining.

Q: Is the Monogram Giant Onthego GM reversible?
A: Some early limited releases of the Onthego GM were marketed as reversible. However, most Monogram Giant canvas versions, including this piece with red textile lining and built‑in pockets, are not intended to be worn inside‑out. This particular item is not reversible.

Q: Does the bag have base feet, and how heavy is it?
A: The Onthego GM does not have protective feet. Empty weight varies slightly by material but is typically around 1.1–1.3 kg, which feels substantial yet manageable for a large tote.

Q: Is it suitable for travel or as a carry‑on?
A: It makes an excellent work‑to‑weekend tote and usually stows under the seat on many airlines if not overfilled; it also fits comfortably in the overhead bin. Airline allowances differ, so we recommend checking your carrier’s cabin rules for certainty.

Q: What is the material and how do I care for it?
A: Crafted from Monogram Giant coated canvas with leather trims and gold‑tone hardware, it’s durable and designed for daily use. Wipe canvas with a soft, slightly damp cloth and mild soapy water, avoid alcohol‑based cleaners and harsh chemicals, and keep away from prolonged heat or humidity. Store it loosely stuffed in its dust bag to maintain shape.

Q: Does this bag have a date code or a microchip?
A: Louis Vuitton transitioned from stamped date codes to embedded microchips in 2021. Earlier pieces may have a date code, while newer ones are microchipped. Either way, authenticity is verified through multiple indicators—not the presence of a code alone.

Q: What comes with this specific item from A Retro Tale?
A: This bag is sold with a dust bag, as listed under Accessories. Condition is very good with light signs of use and shiny hardware showing light scratches—please see the detailed condition notes on this page.
