PradaCahier Animalier Bag

Q: What fits inside the Prada Cahier Animalier Bag?
A: With dimensions of approximately 23 cm width, 18 cm height, and 9 cm depth, this Small Cahier is a compact yet structured piece. It typically holds a large smartphone (such as a Pro/Max model), a compact wallet or cardholder, keys, lipstick, and a small mirror. The interior is divided into two main compartments, which helps with organisation, but bulky items like large continental wallets or water bottles will likely not fit.

Q: What is the inspiration behind the Cahier design?
A: "Cahier" is French for "notebook," and the design is inspired by the bindings of valuable ancient books. The bag features metal corners resembling protective book corners and a structured silhouette that mimics a book's spine. This specific "Animalier" edition is elevated with a decorative snake buckle, adding a unique, ornate touch to the literary-inspired aesthetic.

Q: Can I wear this bag crossbody?
A: The bag comes with a detachable leather strap with a drop of approximately 44 cm. This length is ideal for shoulder wear or a high crossbody fit on petite frames. For taller wearers or over thick coats, it may sit higher on the torso. The single top handle (16 cm drop) allows for hand or crook-of-arm carry, and removing the strap transforms it into a statement clutch.

Q: How does the closure work?
A: The bag features a flap top secured by a strap and buckle mechanism. The leather tab slides through the decorative gold-tone snake buckle loop to keep the flap closed. It is designed to be secure while adding to the bag's vintage treasure-box appeal.

Q: What material is this bag made from?
A: This piece is crafted from City Calf leather, a smooth and robust calfskin known for its refined finish. It is often paired with Saffiano leather details in the Cahier line. The interior is lined with matching black leather, offering a luxurious feel inside and out.

Q: How should I care for the City Calf leather?
A: Smooth City Calf leather is durable but can be susceptible to surface scratches. We recommend wiping it gently with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust. Avoid contact with water, oils, or perfumes, and be mindful of the metal hardware pressing against the leather during storage. Store the bag upright in a breathable dust bag to maintain its structured shape.

Q: What is the internal layout?
A: The interior typically features two main gusseted compartments separated by a divider, along with a small side pocket (often a flap or slip pocket) for securing smaller valuables like cards or receipts.

Q: How do you authenticate this item?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in-house experts. We perform multi-point checks on materials, stitching, hardware (such as the specific snake buckle detailing and metal corners), brand stamps, and overall construction to ensure authenticity. We stand behind the genuineness of all items we sell.

Q: What accessories are included with this specific bag?
A: This item includes the detachable shoulder strap and the brand booklet. Please note that other accessories like a dust bag or box are not listed for this specific piece; refer to the "Accessories" field for the definitive list.
