OmegaSeamaster Diver 300m 29mm Quartz Watch

Q: What movement powers this watch?
A: It is a quartz Seamaster Diver 300M powered by Omega calibre 1424, featuring an end‑of‑life indicator for the battery. This is the small Diver 300M variant with a date at 3 o’clock and the signature wave dial.

Q: How long does the battery typically last and how will I know it needs replacing?
A: Typical battery life is around 3–5 years in normal use. When the battery is running low, the seconds hand will jump in four‑second steps while the watch still keeps time—this is the end‑of‑life warning. We recommend a replacement by an authorised watchmaker who will also pressure‑test the seals afterwards.

Q: Is it suitable for swimming and diving?
A: Yes. The Seamaster Diver 300M is rated to 300 metres. Before water use, ensure the crown is fully screwed down and, as with any pre‑owned diver’s watch, have the water resistance checked periodically (yearly is a good rule of thumb). After swimming—especially in salt or chlorinated water—rinse the case and bracelet with fresh water and dry thoroughly.

Q: Does this reference have a helium escape valve and what is it for?
A: Diver 300M models of this era, including the small quartz versions, are known to feature a manually operated helium escape valve at 10 o’clock. It is a professional feature used during saturation diving and is not needed for everyday swimming or snorkelling.

Q: What is the case size and how does it wear?
A: The case is approximately 29 mm across and wears compact with strong wrist presence thanks to the wave dial and rotating bezel. Minor variations in stated size (for example 29.2 mm on some spec sheets) are normal due to measuring methods.

Q: Will the bracelet fit my wrist, and can it be adjusted?
A: This bracelet currently fits a 15 cm wrist or smaller. Sizing is done by adding/removing links; additional links can usually be sourced via authorised Omega retailers or reputable watchmakers, subject to availability and cost.

Q: How often should a quartz Seamaster be serviced?
A: Replace the battery roughly every 3–5 years (or at the first EOL signal). For longevity and safe water use, have water resistance checked annually and plan a full service approximately every 5–8 years, or sooner if you notice issues such as moisture, timekeeping anomalies, or a rough‑feeling crown.

Q: How do I use the bezel?
A: The unidirectional bezel is for timing up to 60 minutes. Turn it counter‑clockwise to align the triangle with the minute hand; the minute hand then points to elapsed minutes. Avoid operating the crown or valves in water and ensure the crown is screwed down before immersion.

Q: Can the serial number tell me when it was made?
A: Omega serial numbers can usually indicate an approximate production period, but for a precise confirmation you can request an Extract from the Archives from Omega. If you would like guidance, our team can help you understand typical date ranges for this reference.
