Tiffany & CoElsa Peretti Large Bean Necklace

Q: What is special about the Elsa Peretti Bean design?
A: The Bean is one of Elsa Peretti’s most recognisable Tiffany designs. Introduced in the early 1970s, its smooth, organic shape is intended to symbolise the origin of life, which is why it remains such a timeless and collectible piece.

Q: What is this necklace made from?
A: This necklace is crafted in 925 sterling silver. It has the bright, cool-toned look collectors love, and it is a classic Tiffany material for everyday fine jewellery.

Q: How long is this necklace, and where will it sit?
A: The chain length for this specific piece is 41 cm. On most wearers, that means it will sit close to the collarbone for a neat, elegant look. Fit can vary slightly depending on your neck size, so we recommend comparing 41 cm with a necklace you already enjoy wearing.

Q: Is the Large Bean a good everyday size?
A: Yes. The Large Bean gives a more noticeable look than the smaller Bean pendants while still feeling minimal and understated. It works beautifully as a standalone necklace and can also be layered if you prefer a more styled look.

Q: Will sterling silver tarnish over time?
A: Yes, sterling silver can naturally tarnish with wear and exposure to air, moisture, perfume, chlorine and household chemicals. This is normal for silver and does not mean the necklace is not authentic or damaged.

Q: Can I shower, swim or exercise while wearing it?
A: It is best not to. To help preserve the shine of sterling silver, we recommend removing the necklace before showering, swimming, exercising, or applying lotions and fragrance, as these can speed up dullness and tarnishing.

Q: How should I clean and store this necklace?
A: Wipe it gently with a soft polishing cloth after wear and store it dry when not in use. If needed, use a suitable silver cleaner sparingly, then rinse and dry thoroughly. Avoid harsh chemicals and over-polishing, especially on vintage jewellery.

Q: Does this item come with a box, pouch or other included items?
A: Everything included with the piece is stated in the product information for this listing. For this necklace, no extra included items are listed, so a box, pouch or other additions should not be assumed unless specifically stated.

Q: Can Tiffany service or polish sterling silver jewellery in the future?
A: Tiffany offers cleaning, polishing and repair services for many of its pieces, although sterling silver services are typically fee-based and availability can vary by store and appointment policy. If you want brand servicing later on, it is generally worth checking directly with Tiffany.

Q: How do you authenticate this necklace?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is carefully inspected by specialists before sale. We assess materials, finish, markings, construction and overall design consistency so you can shop pre-owned luxury with confidence.
